French League Action This Weekend
|
Senegal international Mamadou Niang and Bakary Kone from Cote d’Ivoire are expected to lead the attack when Olympique Marseille go up against Olympique Lyonnaise in the top of the table clash in France’s Ligue 1 at the weekend.
Lyon, seeking an eighth successive title, hope to use home advantage to extend their three point lead at the head of the standings but will find a determined Marseille attack, well aware of the necessity of avoiding defeat not to allow Lyon to open up a considerable lead in the championship chase.
Sunday’s match is the pick of the weekend’s games in France. Stade Rennes, who are third, play at home to Nantes in Saturday night’s key match, reinforced by the return from injury of Ghanaian defender John Mensah.
Toulouse are confident they will be able to use the pair of Cheik Mbengue and Mohamed Fofana, who have both missed training with minor knocks this week, for Saturday’s home game against St Etienne.
A win for Toulouse could move them up into the top three.
Guinea’s Ibrahima Camara will miss the Le Mans match against Bordeaux on Saturday with a knee injury but Morocco’s Mikael Chretien could yet play for Nancy at home to Grenoble despite a knee injury picked up last weekend. A scan has revealed that it was just bruising.
