Ghana international Laryea Kingston faces a spell on the sidelines as the medical team at his Scottish Premier League side, Heart of Midlothian, assess the seriousness of a hamstring injury.

Kingston is definitely out of Hearts’ weekend fixture with Dundee United, but there is a concern he may face a longer time out of the game as Ghana prepare to start the final round of their 2010 World Cup/MTN Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign in late March with a fixture at home against Benin.

Meanwhile, Ghana FA vice-president Fred Pappoe was earlier in the week forced to refute reports that Kingston had been discarded from the national side for being lazy and a disruptive influence.

"These are wild and irresponsible allegations which could only create a feud between players and coaches as well as management," Pappoe said.

"Laryea has been committed to the team and even when injured he shows up to be assessed. I don't think his commitment is or has been in doubt."
