Nigeria League Review

Warri Wolves got their 2009/10 Nigerian Premier League campaign off to a stunning start with a 5-0 thrashing of Zamfara United at the Ughelli Township Stadium on Sunday.
Two goals from Ejike Orji and further strikes by Fegor Ogude, Oke Akpoveta and Ebuka Okafor ensured last season’s fourth-placed finishers set out a positive marker for the new campaign.
Enyimba made a disappointing start, however, only managing a 0-0 draw at home to Lobi Stars, who had 10 men for the final 23 minutes after Sam Ledor, a former skipper of the Enyimba side, received his marching orders. But the numbers were levelled up six minutes later when Enyimba fullback Ofem Inah followed suit.
Dolphins, back in the top flight after two seasons out, drew 1-1 with Ocean Boys and will be disappointed having had the lead in the 28th minute through Salisu Yusuf, only for George Amakiri to draw level 10 minutes from time.
The fastest goal of the day – and possibly of the entire season – came after just 46 seconds as Akin Anifowoshe netted for Sunshine Stars against Rangers.
Sunday Adeyemi added a second for the home side, before Andrew Nwordu netted a consolation for the visitors, who eventually went down 2-1. In other matches on Sunday, Gateway drew 1-1 at home with Kwara United and Wikki Tourists beat Kaduna United 2-1 in Bauchi.
