Asamoah Gyan
The Ghana striker netted a brace for French Ligue 1 side Rennes as they won 4-0 away at Grenoble, his first coming after just 27 seconds. From the kick-off, Gyan capitalised on a mistake in the home defence to fire past goalkeeper Jody Viviani. The Black Stars forward then won and converted a second-half penalty after a Zoran Rendulic foul to complete the rout.

Kanyimbo Tshizeu
TP Mazembe knew that if they kept a clean-sheet against Etoile du Sahel in their African Champions League Group B match on Sunday, they would be through to the semifinals of the competition. And Tshizeu played a big part in them doing exactly that, but went one better as well by scoring the only goal of the game in the first half as Mazembe won 1-0 to book a Last 4 encounter with Sudan’s Al Hilal.

Nasief Morris
The South African centre-back had put in a Man of the Match performance with his defensive work even before he rose highest in the six-yard box to head home on 80 minutes and score the winner for Spanish La Liga side Racing Santander in their 2-1 victory at Malaga on Saturday. After being one of the best defenders in La Liga last year while at Recreativo Huelva, Morris has once again started the season well.

Joseph Akpala
The Nigerian striker continued his fine start to the new season with yet another goal, his fifth in seven matches, as his Belgian side Club Brugge thumped Westerlo 4-1 in the Jupiler League. The match was a battle of the Nigerians as Westerlo had Akpala’s compatriots Moses Adams and Emanuel Obiora Odita in their side, but is was Akpala who came out well and truly on top.
Ahmed Salama
Harras Hodoud and Egypt striker Salama netted an excellent brace as he helped his side to a 5-1 thumping of Angolan outfit Primeiro de Agosto in the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday. Salama has been in good form this season in helping his side make a solid start to their Egyptian Premier League campaign too.
