February 9, 2010
Dutch manager Louis Van Gaal says he is not interested in coaching Nigeria after he was named in a shortlist for the vacant Super Eagles post.
Bayern Munich coach is among the five foreign coaches named by the Nigeria Football Federation to replace Shaibu Amodu.
Van Gaal was named along with Russia boss Guus Hiddink, former Ghana coach Ratomir Djukovic, ex-England under-21 manager Peter Taylor and Bruno Metsu as candidates for the job.
Despite the offer from the NFF says he wants to see out his contract with the German giants, which runs until June 2011.
"I have had an offer from Nigeria now, but I have rejected it," Van Gaal told German television channel Liga Total.
"It was not the first time I have received an offer from Nigeria, but I think that Bayern is a big challenge for me."
The shortlisted coaches are expected to arrive in Nigeria for interviews over the vacant post. Amodu has been demoted to coach Nigeria’s team which will play at the African Nations Championship in 2011.
