Warri Wolves Off To Burundi

Nigeria ’s Warri Wolves will depart on Thursday for Burundi for their CAF Confederation Cup match against Athletico Olympic, according to the club.
In a statement signed by the club’s general manager (media), Timi Ebikagboro, the 31-man delegation will be led by chairman of the Nigeria Premier League, Oyuki Obaseki.
The team will depart the Murtala Mohammed International Airport on Thursday night on aboard Kenya Airways at about 9.30pm ahead of the match expected to be played on Sunday.
On the squad are goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim, Fego Eddy Ogude, Omonigho Temile, Gift Atilewa and Ehiosun Ekigho. Warri Wolves are placed fourth on the Nigeria Premier League table and coach Lawrence Akpokona insisted that their international campaign will not affect their form on the local scene.
Akpokona disclosed that playing on the continent will only put pressure on the team as they will now be playing mid-week games, but for now they have the ability to cope with any pressure. He said the team are injury free and have enjoyed tremendous support from the government of Delta State.
